Domain Name

Blog Hosting
Once you have done a search and have found that your name that you would like to use is available you will need a place to host or store your blog or website for you. Remember most blog hosting companies can also secure you a domain name this will allow you to go through one company for a domain name and blog hosting for your blog or website.
Choose a Blogging Platform
You will then need to look at what blogging platform you want to use for your blog. The most popular one is wordpress.org but there are others out there like textpattern.com, moveabletype.org and many more blogging platforms out there. These platforms are free to download and will need someone with some web experience to install and configure the blogging platform for you.
Blogging Communities
If you prefer not to get into all the technical aspects of setting up a blogging platform then you can register a blog through one of the blogging communities that have the infrastructure already setup and ready to go, wordpress.com or blogger.com are the more popular and have large blogging communities.
Blogging themes
There are thousands of pre-designed blogging themes out there and especially wordpress themes you can either download free blogging themes from the internet or you can purchase more customized themes. Do a Google Search for free or custom wordpress themes.
Blog Management
A lot of people thing that running a blog is simple and easy to maintain but the truth is that it requires regular updates for the blogging platform and if you are running plugins with your blog these plugins will need to be updated on a regular basis.
Blogging is not like a normal conventional website that you design and then you leave it, a blog is more dynamic and if you want to do well with blogging and make money online from it you need to spend on going time and effort with it on a weekly basis and I would suggest finding a topic related to a hobby of yours as it will make it worth your time as you will already be interested it will be easier to write about your hobby and spend quality time on your blog maintaining and posting regular updates and posts.
